Important information for parents and carers
NEW CO-EDUCATIONAL SCHOOL
The academy vision is to prepare our pupils for a successful, fulfilling and happy life where they make a positive contribution within their communities. At Ark William Parker Academy, we believe that excellent preparation for examinations will ensure that all pupils will have the best opportunities to achieve their target grades, in return, enabling them to go onto the courses of their choice in the 6th form, or onto university or the world of work upon completion of school at age 18.
To ensure correct preparedness we have 2 full mock examination periods for pupils in Years 11,12 & 13. These examinations are sat under full examination conditions with invigilators and unseen papers. Years 7, 8, 9 & 10 have 3 assessment periods where there is a mix of formal and classroom based assessments to support the development of exam techniques and skills.
Pupils in Years 11, 12 & 13 are expected to spend extra time at the academy out of normal school hours to fully prepare for upcoming examinations. Parents can support this by reinforcing the importance of attendance at these days and workshops, as well as supporting their child to make full use of their revision timetables. Revision guides are also available from all heads of department for every subject.
