Reporting to parents

Key Stage 3: Year 7, 8 and 9

All Year 7, 8 and 9 students will be assessed on their learning and effort at the end of each full term in all subjects during Assessment Week (please see Academy Calendar for details). Assessments in the Autumn and Spring term will take place in class following formal exam guidelines and expectations. In the Summer term all students will experience a formal examination setting to prepare them for their future GCSE examinations. After each assessment parents will receive a progress report.

Reporting of student progress comes in a variety of formats:

  • Progress reports with assessment grades, working at grades and effort scores after the Autumn and Spring Assessment Week
  • Full reports are annual after the Summer term Assessment Week
  • Parent consultation evenings are annual. Please see the Academy Calendar for details
  • Meetings are held on parent/school request. This is an informal opportunity for parents/carers and Heads of Year / Form Tutors / subject teachers to discuss any issues related to academic and pastoral care
  • There is a constant two-way contact between Academy staff and parents as and when appropriate.

Key Stage 4: Year 10

Key Stage 4: Year 11

All Year 11 students will be assessed on their learning and effort at the end of each half term in all subjects during Assessment Week (please check calendar for dates). All assessments will take in the examination hall in order to prepare students for their GCSE examinations. After each assessment parents will receive a progress report.

Reporting of student progress comes in a variety of formats:

  • Grade reports are sent out every half term
  • Full reports are annual
  • Following each half termly assessment all students will receive an information letter outlining the results from each set of mock exams.
  • Parent consultation evenings are annual
  • Students in Year 11 are also invited to additional parent/carer evenings held by the Senior Leadership team of the academy. These are particularly for students who need additional support and challenge in order to reach and exceed their GCSE target grades.

Key Stage 5: Year 12 and 13

Key stage 5 students will be regularly assessed as a part of their A Level courses. They will have a timed assessment in class, assessed homework and a peer assessed piece of work every 3 weeks following a clear weekly cycle. Students that are identified as below target will receive additional intervention and assessment.

Reporting of student progress comes in a variety of formats:

  • Mock exams are termly and are followed up with an information sheet to parents
  • Parent consultation evenings are annual and held at the Ark William Parker site
  • Surgeries are held on parent/school request. This is an informal opportunity for parents/carers and Heads of Year / Form Tutors/ subject teacher to discuss any issues related to academic or pastoral care
  • There is constant two way contact between Academy staff and parents as and when appropriate
