Football careers experience at the AMEX stadium

Students visited The AMEX stadium, the home of Brighton and Hove Albion FC for the second instalment of the Careers in Football course.

Mr Morris, Careers Lead said "The course, which is currently being delivered to our year 10 students, provides them with the opportunity to experience and find out more about the different jobs and career paths within Football.

"The students took part in activities that helped them to think about the different skills needed in a variety of roles within the football club, including a professional football player. They discussed what items would be on their bucket list with the emphasis on having aspirations and what they could do to reach their goals. The boys also took part in a question and answer session with staff who work as part of the Albion in the Community department.

"The students were thrilled to go on a full tour of the AMEX stadium, which gave them a chance to walk out onto the side of the pitch, visit the changing rooms and sit at the highest point in the stadium."

Student Alfie said “I was able to gain loads of confidence from the day and really enjoyed the tour of the stadium. I am now looking at some of the different football related pathways as a future career.”

Student Freddie said “It was a great day. We took part in some activities where we learnt about working in teams. I realised that there are more jobs within football than I thought.”

Mr Elford, Head of PE said, “It was a great opportunity for the students to be able to think about their career aspirations in such an inspirational setting. The students had a fantastic experience and found the question and answer session extremely useful - particularly learning about some of the different roles within a professional football club.”
