Year 10 football team progress to final 32 in national competition
The Year 10 football team from ARK William Parker Academy progressed into Round 6 of the English Schools Football Competition having overcome the Forest School, Horsham.
The ARK William Parker team ran out 6-1 winners in a one sided match. ARK William Parker took control as early as the second minute when captain Curtis Beale struck a powerful shot from 25 yards which the Forest keeper was unable to stop, even though he got both hands on the ball. Ivan Flanagan and Alex Coyle were dominating the midfield exchanges and provided excellent service to Ozzie Ngounou Kebiwa. Ozzie held off a desperate late challenge and finished with ease to score ARK William Parker’s second goal in the last minute of the first half.
Forest showed more fight and produced their only shot on target in the second half when a deflected effort beat the stranded Dan Rose in the ARK William Parker goal. ARK William Parker reacted by scoring a third and fourth in quick succession through Ozzie and Ivan (his first goal in ARK William Parker colours). Josh Graham and Callum Coshell-Evans marshalled the ARK William Parker defence very well and a tackle from Josh and a pass from Callum set up Curtis for his second and ARK William Parker’s fifth. There was still time for substitute Ben Cornelius to win a penalty having been tripped by the goalkeeper when through on goal, Curtis scored to complete his hat trick.
Thirty Two schools remain in the nationwide competition and ARK William Parker Academy’s next opponents are St Columba’s Catholic Boys School in Bexleyheath.
