Year 10 team progress to next round in English National Schools competition
The Year 10 football team at ARK William Parker Academy progressed to Round 4 of the English National Schools Under 15 competition, beating Tunbridge Wells Boys Grammar in an entertaining 4-3 win.
Ozzie Ngounou Kebiwa opened the scoring with a predatory finish, pouncing on a mistake by the TWGS keeper. TWGS then equalised, almost immediately, as a lack of concentration in defence allowed a free run on goal and gave Dan Rose no chance in the Parker goal. Curtis Beale scored to make the game 2-1 and many more Parker chances went begging before TWGS scored again to make it 2-2 at half time. Curtis then scored the goal of the game, unleashing a Ronaldo-esque free kick from 30 yards into the top corner, before TWGS equalised for the third time. Hanging onto a lead has been Parker’s downfall in recent years and it appears still to be the case. Both teams went close to snatching victory with extra time and penalties looming, but Parker launched a final attack and Ozzie raced on to a long through ball, holding off two defenders, before coolly slotting into the corner.
The Year 10 team also progressed to the next round of the Sussex Schools Cup by beating National Cup finalists Hove Park 4-3; Curtis Beale scored twice, with Ozzie and Charlie Ball getting the other goals.
