Congratulations to our Year 7 Football team, who remain unbeaten this season and are through to the semi-finals of the Sussex Schools County Cup and the District Cup!
The boys, who play 9 a-side until Year 8, have comprehensively beaten all local opponents, racking up victories against Claverham (4-0), St Richards (4-0) and St. Leonards Academy (7-2). The team are awaiting their Eastbourne based semi-final opponents. In the Sussex School County Cup, Parker have been on the wrong end of the draw, having to travel in every round. Coincidently, every match has been against Brighton based schools. Hove Park were beaten 3-1 in the first match of the season, the Regis school forfeited the second round match. Blatchington Mill were beaten 6-1 which set up a quarter final contest versus Dorothy Stringer.
Parker found themselves a goal down at half time, but regrouped and continued to plug away against a very organised team. An excellent piece of skill on the right wing from Jamal Lubanga set up captain Benn Ward who rifled a shot into the roof of the net from outside the penalty area. The game went from end to end as both teams searched a winner. The defence held firm as Jamal Palmer delivered a hopeful ball into the box which was unfortunately diverted into his own goal by the unlucky Hove Park defender. This latest victory sets up another away match against Warden Park, Haywards Heath, in the semi-final of the County Cup. The game is scheduled to be played in the first week after the February half term.
Ahead of their next game, the team posed with the Barclays Premier League Trophy, which was visiting Ark 6th Form East Sussex with Barclays Life Skills - best of luck to the team!
