We'd like to extend our warmest welcome to those Year 6 pupils who have been offered a place at Ark William Parker Academy for this September; as a Parker boy, you'll be joining a community that aspires, achieves and succeeds - academically, socially and personally. You will be joining the school at an exciting time - the school's results have improved year-on-year for three years and we've celebrated continued sporting success and our student musicians performing for an audience of over 1,000 people at the Barbican Centre in the annual Ark Music Gala.
If you have been offered a place by East Sussex Council, you will also have received a personal letter from the Academy, which gives details of the transition to Ark William Parker. If you have not received a letter, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01424 439 888.
“When I first came to the school, I was a bit nervous that about the older boys, but they’re actually really kind and helpful. They showed me round the school and helped me to get settled in. The teachers are really nice – they’re strict if they have to be, but that helps to make sure that we’re always learning. I’m really enjoying the classes here." - Brandon Warren, current Year 7 student.
What will happen now?
We know that the transition to secondary school can be quite an exciting time but also a daunting experience for some students and their families - which is why we're running transition days to ensure that the move to Ark William Parker is as smooth and comfortable as possible. These will run from Wednesday 6th to Friday 8th July and include a range of exciting learning activities to help understand more about the subjects you will be studying.
There will be a parent information evening on Wednesday 29th June 2016 at 6:30pm in the school hall, where you will have an opportunity to meet the member of staff who will take on the role of tutor for your son, his head of year and the senior leadership team.
"I was really nervous when I first came to the school. I thought I’d get lost moving from classroom to classroom, but the teachers were really nice and made it easy to get to know the school. The things I’ve enjoyed most is getting to know new students and new teachers, as well as being able to do loads of exciting science experiments.” - Jack Keesing, current Year 7 student.
Can I visit the school?
Absolutely; we're always happy to meet new parents and students and show them the school in action. Please don't hesitate to call 01424 439 888 or email email@example.com to organise a tour of the school.
"I’ve really enjoyed my time at William Parker. I’ve really enjoyed the quality of the teaching and that I had teachers who really believed in me, which motivated me to work hard and prove them right.” - Alfie Denness, former Ark William Parker and Ark 6th Form East Sussex student, now studying History at Cambridge University.
All that remains is to wish our future Year 7 students the best of luck in their SATs this summer - we look forward to seeing you in September!
