School Team win District Cup for Hastings

Year 10 Team are District Cup Champions

Ark William Parker Academy is thrilled at the achievement of their Year 10 football team; they were declared champions after winning the final of the District Cup.

After a hard fought game at the Dripping Pan (Lewes FC) on a warm, sunny afternoon the boys dug deep to prevail winners, defeating Lewes Priory 3-1. Czarek Perlikowski put Parker ahead half way through the first half only for Priory to equalise soon after.

A formation change at half time tightened things up and an absolute screamer of a goal from Harry Burton put Parker 2-1 up. All the squad worked extremely hard in the second half, putting their bodies on the line as Priory attacked over and over again, Euan Atkins in goal making a couple of great saves. The game was wrapped up with a counter attacking 3rd, Harry Burton neatly slotting the ball away with his left foot. Cheers were loud at the end of the game as the boys celebrated a superb end to the season.

A jubilant Mr Morgans said, “I'm delighted for the team, they dug deep today and deserved the win. They have played some much improved football throughout the season and this is a fine reward for their efforts. A mention must be given for the boys that have contributed to the season as well, not just those playing in the final. Let's hope it sets us up for more success next year!”

Final Squad: Euan Atkins, Harry Burton, Charlie Lambert, Will Stonham, Dan Hull, Sam Kamara, Matt Andrews, Nathan Bradley, Kian McDonagh, Finn Rolfe, Czarek Perlikowski, Liam Papuha, Taylor Norton, Tom Foster.

Ade Olorunda, Assistant Principal said, “We are really pleased to be celebrating the achievements of our Year 10 and Year 7 football teams who have won the District and County Cups. The boys have put in a lot of effort, worked well together and shown great team spirit.”

“We want to support our students to aspire and achieve their full potential. The well-being of our students can be enhanced through sport and enrichment activities which encourages team building and exercise. In September, Ark William Parker Academy will be teaming up with Super Stitch 86 to launch our House system and promote participation in more events. We look forward to a very exciting future for sport at Ark William Parker Academy.”
