Top mathematicians from Ark William Parker Academy achieved great success and were presented with three silver and 2 bronze certificates from the UK Maths Trust.
Ten of our Year 7 students took part in the Junior Maths Challenge along with some 250,000 other Year 7s and Year 8s from around the country.
The Ark William Parker students performed brilliantly and achieved numerous awards, putting them in the top twentieth percentile of Key Stage 3 mathematicians in the country.
Teacher Lawrence Smallman said, “I’m extremely proud of our students. The UK Maths Challenge is a serious competition that demands serious mathematical ability. The fact that half our entrants were awarded these prestigious silver and gold awards - when half the entrants are a whole year older than our boys - shows that Ark William Parker has some real talent coming through the school. I can’t wait to see how they perform in next year’s competition.”
The UK Mathematics Trust is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of children and young in people through national competitions and enrichment activities.
