Ark William Parker Academy celebrated the achievements of students with an awards evening to remember. Michael Foster, the High Sheriff of East Sussex and the Mayor, Cllr Judy Rogers were invited to present awards to the winning students.
The evening kicked off with entertainment for the students, parents and guests who were treated to a wonderful string trio as well as the opportunity for their portrait to be drawn by a caricature artist before the awards ceremony began.
Over 40 students from across all years at the school were commended throughout the evening, receiving recognition for their achievements over the year. All subjects in the curriculum were celebrated from Art, Science and Music to Maths, D&T and PE.
Towards the end of the ceremony, six special awards were given to those students who had shown a particularly outstanding achievement amongst their peers.
Those awards were - The Parish of St John's Hollington Award for Care of the environment in the local community, awarded to Macauley; The Personal Achievement Award for Outstanding Personal Achievement was awarded to Mark; The William Parker Foundation award for outstanding service to the community was awarded to Dillan; The Driver Award for overall achievement was awarded to Josh; Outstanding Academic Achievement for the Highest Exam results was awarded to Yasir and The Jacob Woudstra Award, for the student who had succeeded against the odds, was awarded to Kacper.
Jane Fletcher, Executive Principal of Ark William Parker said ‘It gives me and my staff great pleasure to be able to recognise the achievements of our hardworking and talented students and to celebrate their great work and efforts over the school year. These students are inspiring and have demonstrated a real determination in their studies as well as in the wider society.’
