An interesting lesson with Potemkim, a pigmy hedgehog
A class of Year 8 students were pleasantly surprised when a little visitor attended their science class. Potemkim, a pigmy hedgehog from South Africa, was brought in when they were studying how animals and plants are adapted to survive in their environments. The students loved being able to watch him run around and stroke his spines.
The students wrote a paragraph on how Potemkim is adapted for survival; that he is fast, can run really far and has spines to help protect him from predators. This is a skill they are often asked to do in Biology exam questions.
