ARK William Parker Academy remembers
The eleventh of the eleventh was marked with acts of remembrance at ARK William Parker Academy.
Guests gathered with senior staff, prefects and CCF cadets as school Chaplain, Rev Peter Michell, led the ceremony. Wreaths were laid at the two memorials on the site, one commemorating boys of the Hastings Grammar School and the other those of Hastings Secondary School for Boys. Then, remembrance crosses were ‘planted’ in the Peace Garden by the school chapel. These had been inscribed by students, with the names of people dear to them who had given their lives in the service of the country.
Assemblies through the whole week were themed on remembrance, with reference not only to the World Wars but subsequent conflicts too. Students were involved in taking a lead and all the William Parker boys have been given the opportunity to honour those who have made the supreme sacrifice.
