Cricket team reach T20 County Cup Finals
ARK William Parker Academy is through to the Finals day of the T20 County Cricket Cup. The Year 10 team continued their impressive run against schools from the private sector, following wins against Bedes and Lancing College with a professional display against Seaford College. AWPA won the toss and chose to bat, and despite the early loss of Alex Coyle, set about building a daunting total. Captain, Cody Harding, batted fluently, scoring 42 off 38 balls, but once again, Ivan Flanagan stole the show, following up his scores of 82 and 73 (against Bedes and Lancing) with another half century, this time scoring 63 off just 41 balls. Sam Hobbs added a useful 19 off 14 balls to take AWPA’s score to 163/6 off 20 overs.
Hobbs and Harding opened the bowling and as runs were hard to find, pressure was building on Seaford. Dan Rose took an excellent catch above his head to dismiss Seaford’s opening batsman. Adam Page then took care of the middle order, taking 3 wickets for 22 off his 4 overs, with Ben Cornelius taking a difficult catch at long on. Stripped of their specialist batsman, Seaford limped to a score of 107/8 off their allotted overs.
AWPA now play at Sussex Academy, Blackstone on Monday 16th June in Finals Day.
